Is Jesus Just Another Guru? Are You A Seeker Of Truth?

Most Gurus that I have studied say that Jesus is a fellow Guru (a fellow God). Interestingly, Jesus seems to reject that claim, saving that" All that ever came before me (ie: Krishna. etc.) are thieves and robbers" (John 10:8 ), and " ...take heed lest any man deceive you... many will come in my name saying I am Christ, [or Christ consciousness]; and shall deceive many" (Mark 13:5,6, Luke 21:8). " And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect" (Mark 13:21,22). So, Jesus appears to be saying that all that came before him, and all that will follow him, are false. It is important to note that both the Gurus and Jesus teach about deceptive spiritual beings.

Jesus makes his uniqueness from all other Gurus crystal clear when he states that he will do something that no other Guru has ever done. Jesus states that he must go to the father (die, and be resurrected), in order that the Holy Spirit be made readily available for the very first time in history (to only those who believe, and follow, Jesus).

Said Jesus to his disciples: " Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you" (Jn. 16:7). "If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever: Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (Jn. 14:15-17, 26).

"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified." (Jn. 7:39)

So, only when Jesus was glorified (resurrected from the dead, (Luke 24:26,46) would this spirit of truth, the comforter, be readily available to followers of this man Jesus, for the first time in history! Says Jesus: "Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into his glory?... "And he said unto them. Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day... (Luke 24:26,46)

Now, if Krishna, and other Gurus prior to Jesus, didn't bring this Spirit, obviously they are inferior, for Jesus said it is "expedient" (advantageous) that this Spirit come. Jesus says that if he does not die, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, will not come to mankind ("... it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you", see quotes above). Most gurus who have heard about Jesus continue to say that Jesus is equal to themselves and to the Gurus who existed prior to Jesus. Yet Jesus denies them all and is the only one who could bring this advantageous Spirit of Truth to the world. If the Gurus are equal to Jesus, then how could Jesus reject all that ever came before and would come after himself? How could Jesus be the only one to bring the Spirit of Truth to the world?

Unlike the Gurus, Jesus also talks a lot about Satan and hell. Isn't it interesting that Jesus speaks extensively about Satan and Hell, yet these Gurus don't? Granted, most of us would rather these topics of Satan and Hell disappear. But, isn't it quite possible that the one and only Messiah would tell us things that we never heard of, and which might even be "distasteful"? Isn't it more likely that men handpicked by Jesus, and who lived with him for vears, and who turned the world around would know more about Jesus than these Gurus (or Mohammed) who all came centuries after Jesus? Yet these Gurus claim to know more about Jesus than the very disciples who lived with Him for 3 years? Isn't it likely, that some of these disciples would have written down things that Jesus said, the very day that he said them? Jesus clearly rejects all Gurus, and he states how the ancient Jewish prophets foretold of his own coming. But no one foretold in any detail the coming of Krishna, or any other Guru. If you are truly a seeker of truth", you will examine these statements closely.

"Then he (Jesus) said unto them, O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself...Then opened he their understanding that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them. Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ {the annointed one} to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:25-27, 45-47). All nations, not just those in the Middle East!

Again, that leaves no one but this one man called Jesus. All reputable historians agree that Jesus of Nazareth lived and was crucified. The Jewish Talmud even says that he was put to death because he led Israel astray with his sorcery (Babylonia Sanhedrin 43a). A "sorcerer"! So even his enemies agree that he accomplished the supernatural - miracles! Even the ancient Roman historians recorded his crucifixion (Cornelius Tacitus - Annals 15:44, about 90 A.D. etc.).

The dead sea scrolls contain copies of many of the writings of the prophets that Jesus referred to. Some copies of Isaiah that the Essenes kept, were undoubtedly written one or two hundred years before Jesus walked the streets of Jerusalem. A recently found copy of Isaiah is even older, dated between 200 and 500 years before Jesus. All reputable scholars agree that these ancient copies differ from the Bible today, only in a few words that are misspelled. These misspellings have no real bearing on the meaning of the texts. If you think about that, you will see that it destroys the theory that we can't really know what was written down years ago, since so many changes "must" have taken place since then, (see Josh Mcdowells "Evidence That Demands A Verdict")

Says Isaiah, chapter 53 (written over 700 years before Jesus walked the earth): "Who hath believed our report ? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? ... Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way, and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his own mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgement... for he was cut off out of the land of the living [killed]: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah 53: 1-12)

Most scholars agree that this was actually originally written over 700 years before Jesus walked the earth (and all agree it was written way before the coming of Jesus of Nazareth.). Some ancient Rabbis, (prior to Jesus), actually said that this chapter referred to the coming Messiah [see Targum Yonathan, "Sanhedrin" , fol.98,b and the Zohar] Here is a prophesy, (a foretelling), of someone both chosen and voluntarily dying for the sins of others, and yet pleasing God because he has done it, and being rejected by many. What human being has ever come and said that he is the messiah, who was foretold hundreds of years before his birth, to come and to voluntarily die for the sins of the world? What 30 year old man would want to die to fulfill some prophesy? Only a madman unless it was the truth and truly prophesied just for him.

As prophesied above, he would be given "a portion with the great and... divide the spoil with the victors" ... "because" he died ("poured out his soul to death" and was "cut off out of the land of the living")! In order to "divide the spoil", he therefore needs to come back from the dead. And then he either did it or has deceived many. If it all isn't true, a madman would have then had to also somehow deceive many people into believing that he had been resurrected from the dead! Said Jesus: " ...destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up...but he spoke of the temple of his body" (Jn 2:19-21 & Luke 24:46). Either way, he has affected the world like no human being before or after him! Where did he get such wisdom for his teaching? Was this all just coincidence?

Said Albert Einstein: "As a child I received instructions both in the Bible and the Talmud. I am a Jew, but am enthralled by the luminous figure of the Nazarene (Jesus)...No man can deny the fact that Jesus existed nor that his savings are beautiful Even if some of them have been said before, no one expressed them so divinely as he."(Saturday Evening Post Oct. 26. 1919). Einstein also said that science and technology could never resolve mankind's major problems, in that they are moral problems tnat require moral solutions.

Is it possible that Jesus was a such a dever madman that he could figure out all these prophesies relating to a dying Messiah, fulfill them to the day as prophesied (Daniel 9:24-27), convince many people that he had risen from the dead, and give moral guidance so profound tnat many, including non-Christians such as Einstein would say that they are "capable of curing all the social ills of humanity"?

"Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed"? (Isaiah 53:1). As one studies scripture, the arm of the Lord can only be the Messiah!

"The Lord hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God" (Isaiah 52:10, 40:10,11, 51:5, 42:1-9). As any Jew should know, only the Messiah of scripture can bring salvation to the world ( Isaiah 11: 1-10, 42: 1-9, etc.). And, "...his arm shall rule for him" (Is. 40:10) Only the Messiah from the line of David can "rule for him."

John The Baptist is an historical figure. He is mentioned by a non-christian, the Jewish writer Josephus (writing about 90 AD). Josephus states that both "John the Baptist", and "James the Just, brother of Jesus the so called Messiah ", were put to death by Herod (Josephus, Antt. 18 5:2 and Antt 20, 9:1).

The first thing John the Baptist said when he first saw Jesus coming towards him, was:" Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (Jn. 1:29). Throughout the Old Testament the only way a lamb took away sin, was by dying.

"Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man [not Krishna, not Sai Baba, etc.] in heaven, nor in earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon... And one of the elders saith unto me. weep not: behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain... And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof- for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people and nation ...(Rev. 5:2-9). "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul" ( Leviticus 17:11, written many centuries before Jesus birth)). "... they shall smite the judge of Israel...but thou Bethlehem...out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting" (Micah 5:1,2 about 740 B.C. Rabbis agree this is Messianic - see Soncino - The Twelve Prophets - p. 174 bottom).

A similar scene to Revelations is given in the Old Testament" ... the Ancient of days did sit whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure of wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgement was set and the books were opened.... I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed" (Daniel 7:9-14, also written centuries before Jesus, and depicting one Messiah, or, saviour, for the entire world - Jewish Rabbi's also consider this passage Messianic see Soncino -Daniel, Ezra. Nehemiah p. 60-bottom)

To sum up, we have both Jesus and the Gurus (all who claim to be God, - Jn. 8:58, 10:30), stating that there are deceptive spiritual beings in the universe. Remember, the Gurus say that Jesus is a fellow Guru and to be trusted, but Jesus claims to be unique and calls all others impostors. And Jesus frequently refers to many ancient Jewish prophesies, saying that these prophesies were written about him and him only. In fact, he uses these prophesies written hundreds of years before his birth to validate his entire ministry (Luke 24:25-27, & 45-47) and his claim to be the only Messiah. Additionally, as quoted earlier, both the Old Testament (Daniel 7:9-14, etc.) and the New Testament (Revelations 5:2-9. etc.) show only one Messiah for all nations. Why are there supernatural prophesies for the entire ministry of only one "Guru", Jesus of Nazareth? These are the major validations of the Messiah, not simply miracles. Said Jesus:" An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whales belly, so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Mathew 12:39,40 & 16-4) For Satan and his followers can also do miracles (Mt 24:24, Mk. 13:22, etc.)

Well either Jesus or the Gurus or both, are obviously wrong. History and archeology corroborate the incredible historical accuracy of the Bible in relation to the things mentioned in the Bible (ie: cities; nations, wars, individual sites, concurrent rulers and customs placed within the correct time periods, etc.) On the other hand, Eastern Religion is based predominantly on mythological characters ( ie: Arjuna, etc.) with no corroborating evidence. Certainly, there are some great truths mixed into all religions. The deceiving spirits know that a lie is swallowed much more easily, when wrapped in truth.

The Bible alone has 100% specifically fulfilled prophecies to cities; nations, and events. In fact, God says that foretelling the future with 100% accuracy is a proof of being God. He says no one else can do it. Not only did Jesus' end-times prophesies state that there would be many false Christs (Christ consciousnesses, Gurus) appearing, but that earthquakes (ie: volcanoes), and pestilence (Aids?, Chlamidia?, Ebola Virus, T.B.? etc.) would increase as the end-times drew near (Mt 24:3-24, Mk. 13: 1-22, etc.). The penalty for a Jewish prophet being wrong once was death by stoning. This is the risk that the Jewish prophets took when they prophesied to the many events that took place during their lifetimes, only those that passed this test, found their way into scripture (Is. 11-24, Deut 18:20-22). These prophesies have helped convince many of the greatest scientific and mathematical minds (Ie: Isaac Newton, Robert Boyle, Michael Faraday, Kepler. Galileo, Copernicus, Louis Pasteur, Pascal, James Clerk Maxwell, etc.) that the Bible had to be authored by God and that God actually spoke to a few men, (the Jewish prophets), who always agreed, though their writings span over 1,000 years. Please see our pamphlets on the spiritual thoughts of these men, as well as our pamphlets on fulfilled Biblical prophesy.

Those teaching Eastern and New Age thought are in error when they use Jesus' statement"Be ye therefore perfect as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Mt 5:48). Gurus interpret this, as learning to lead a life of perfection by shedding your "ego". Jesus also said "...Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God... Jesus said unto him, if thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me" (Mt 19:17,21). The greek word used there for "perfect" is "teleios". It is also translated as "ended", or "complete", or "finished". Jesus used a derivative of this same word in his last statement as he died on the cross, saving, "It is finished [perfected]: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost" (Jn 19:30). The apostle Paul writes:"For Christ is the end (the "perfection") of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth" (Romans 10:4, Coloss.4:12,etc.). "Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said unto them, "This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he hath sent." (Jn. 1:29). Jesus is the end of trying to attain perfection, for Jesus becomes our perfection. Said Jesus, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life... but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (Jn. 3:16,18)

Said Jesus "Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matt 25:41) When all true believers stand before God (the Father) in judgement, The Father will see only the blood of Jesus covering all sins. Naturally, good works happen as we follow Jesus. But as all the apostles write, we all sin on occasion. "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1Jn. 1:8,9)

The prior paragraph points out two very key things:

1. The main difference between being a true Christian, and the deception that people are led into with Eastern religion, and virtually all religions. Jesus teaches that "...there is none good [perfect] but God..." That is why we need a saviour. We would not need one if we could become "perfect". Jesus frequently quotes from the book of Genesis which he attributes to Moses (Lk. 2:22, etc.). Mankinds' original sin was a desire to be God, or a Guru. " "And the serpent said unto the woman, ye shall not surelv die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as Gods [perfect], knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4,5). Ironically, trying to rid oneself of one's "ego" , and become "God" [perfect], is really the biggest "ego" trip you can be on according to Jesus and the Jewish prophets. " For there is no man that sinneth not: (1 Kings 8:46). " And the Lord said in his heart... the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth" ; (Gen. 8:21).

Also, the above refutes virtually everything that the Gurus teach (ie: that we all can become perfect, a God, and that through trillions of reincarnations, if necessary, we all will attain Godhood).

2. Again, nearly everything we know about Jesus, comes from the writings of the Apostles that Jesus handpicked. If Jesus is the Messiah and did only what the the Father told Him, as He claimed, we can trust the writings of his handpicked Apostles. We certainly should begin, by logically giving initial preference and examination to those who wrote the documents themselves, versus people who arrive on the scene hundreds or thousands of years later, and say that their understanding of the Apostles writings is better than the writers themselves,(ie: Mohammed) better than those who actually walked and talked with Jesus for years.

Some Other Thoughts:

1. Jesus said " ... when you pray, use not vain repetitions.-" (Mt 6:7). Yet' the Gurus frequently use "mantras" or repetitive words.

2. Jesus said " Wherefore if they shall say unto you... behold he is in the secret chambers; believe it not." (Mt. 24:26) Are these "secret chambers", our minds, when we use mantras?

3. The Major Method Of Deception Of Many False Religions:

The author of this pamphlet is a graduate of Silva Mind Control, and one who sometimes meditated for hours. In 1971 he experimented with Bio-Feedback, and learned to alter his brainwaves (alter his consciousness from the usual Beta to Alpha waves). This had occurred after reading that Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert (who taught psychology at Harvard University, later to become Baba Ram Dass) had concluded that Gurus could, at will, attain the same "expanded consciousness" as someone high on acid. They had concluded this, after finding that Gurus and those high on acid, or a very high grade of marijuana, etc., exhibited exactly the same brain wave patterns (Alpha waves), when hooked to a machine that measures brain wave activity (an EEG machine). When you are walking around not high, or if you are not trained to alter your brain wave patterns, you generally exhibit a different brain wave pattern, (Beta). People that lead seances also exhibit altered brain wave patterns. The Old Testament warns that people who lead seances are often conjuring up demonic (familiar) spirits that impersonate the dead. The Jewish people were warned to avoid these seances, and "familiar" spirits, under penalty of death (Deuteronomy 18:11, Leviticus 20:6, 27). Jesus quotes frequently from these books and says that they are from God ( Luke 16:31, and 24:27).

When Richard Alpert went to India he met a Guru who told him things that no human being could "rightfully" know. The Guru told Alpert the contents of a dream Alpert had the night before. Then, this Guru repeated parts of conversations that Richard Alpert had had in the past. The same familiar spirits (or as Jesus called them, demons, or fallen angels) have been around since the beginning. They seem to have exceptional memories, and that is why they were able (and still can), so convincingly, impersonate the dead and recall things said and done centuries before. Upon hearing these things that no human should "rightfully" know, Alpert decided to become a follower of this Guru. Alpert then changed his name to Baba Ram Das. One of Alpert's subsequent books, Be Here Now", was my "Bible", before God removed this deception and showed me His true "Word", the true Bible.

Shirley MaClain, the actress and author of "Out On a Limb", recounts similar experiences. These experiences convinced her that she should become a follower of a being (an "extraterrestrial), whose words were being "channeled" through another person (identical to the seances warned against by God in Moses' writings and the prophets). She was deceived exactly the same way as Baba Ram Dass.

When they choose a new Dalai Lama, that person must prove that he is the reincarnated spirit of the deceased (prior) Dalai Lama. He does this by choosing from an assortment of items (about 30) placed before him on a table, only those items (about 9)that had belonged to "him" in his prior life. He must choose all his prior possessions on the table and not be wrong once. This is easily done by a familiar spirit living within him. Jesus called them "demons". It is interesting to note that Jesus differentiated between demons and those who were mentally ill (Mt 4:24). Jesus said that the Jewish prophets in the scriptures were bearing God's messages, and he often quotes them. Please note that he never quotes any Guru from India or anywhere else. Most likely Jesus knew about their teachings since trade routes went right Israel from India.

We wonder how intelligent people can join a cult. Well, most of us would probably do the exact same thing, if placed in circumstances as described above, and we were also told things about our past tnat no one else knew. Note that Phaoroh's sorcerers were able to seemingly duplicate some of God's miracles (Exod: 7:11,12,22 and 8:7, etc.) And Jesus spoke of similar deceptions: "Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ (or Christ consciousness), or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect" (Mt 24:23,24). While the Old Testament prophets foretold much of Jesus' life before his birth, no one prophesied in any detail about the coming ministry of any Guru before or after Jesus.

Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me" (Jn. 14:6). Yet, Jesus said that He would have few true followers: "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out demons? and in thy name have done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them I never knew you, depart from me you that practice iniquity" (Mathew 7:22,23)

Said Jesus:"How can you believe [ie: follow Jesus] who receive honor one from another and seek not the honor that comes from God only (John 5:44).

"... he that believeth not (ie: follows not - see James 2:19 "... the demons also believe and tremble") is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light neither comes to the light lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light that his deeds may be made manifest that they are done in God"(John: 3:18-21). If you are a true seeker of truth, Jesus' words will someday resonate within you. If you would prefer to live for eternity with all tears wiped away forever, as opposed to living in hell for eternity, just check out the above. The prophesies prove that Jesus is supernatural and the only way. He will help you shed all bad habits and a life of bondage to sin. All you have to do is truly believe in your heart that Jesus of Nazareth died for your sins and was resurrected to life, is the only Messiah, and tell him you want Him to come into you and fill you with His Holy Spirit (the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth)and help you change.
